Best Skin Care for Your Skin Type

Best Skin Care for Your Skin Type

With so many products on the market, it is hard to know how to choose the best products for your skin type.

There are oodles of over-the-counter products that promise anti-aging results and some do provide help and damage control. Dr. Aboutalebi from Northstar Dermatology will also have suggestions for skin care products and procedures. He can refer you to their in-house aesthetician or, if there is not one, can likely suggest one for you.

Start with a consultation with your Dr. Aboutalebi. It should take about 30 minutes to an hour. During that visit, he will take a short history that will include age, activity level, time in the sun, current health and other things that will help determine your needs. Next, he will examine your skin and look for where you are in the aging process: fine lines, wrinkles, broken veins, and sun damage. Next, your skin type will be assessed: dry, oily, combination, as well as whether you have moles, dark spots, or rosacea.

Once the exam is complete, Dr. Aboutalebi may ask what results you are looking for. Next, he will explain what he has noticed about your skin and make some suggestions. Those suggestions could include a peel, BOTOX, fillers if that is something that you are looking for. You will also get suggestions for skin care products that will specifically help your skin type and your skin’s needs.

If the cost seems high, talk to him about what two or three items would be the best to start your regimen. Ask about product specials as well. Oftentimes the products are costly, but they also will last several months.

Once you have started on a treatment or added skin care products to your routine, expect to see results within four to six weeks.

Dr. Aboutalebi has been recognized continually as one of Fort Worth’s Top Doctors and has received the Patient’s Choice Award for several years. You can rest assured that your skin is in the right hands. Call today to schedule your skin exam at Northstar Dermatology.
