Men Skin Care

Dry skin symptoms of dry, itchy, and red skin can be an issue for men.

Men can be susceptible to dry skin for some reasons: time of year, time spent outdoors or in dry climate, and skin care products used.

Simple skin care procedures can restore your skin’s moisture and soothe dry skin issues.

Use a moisturizer twice a day. Face and body lotion, morning and night, can heal and soften dry skin. Don’t overdo; twice daily is plenty. Too much moisturizer causes an oily look.

Along with a moisturizer, make sure to use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection. Also, use an SPF 30+ lip balm because your lips are also at risk for sun damage.

When choosing a moisturizer, choose one without scent or dye. These additives often dry skin and can cause allergic reactions.

Change your shower temperature to lukewarm or cool water. Hot water tends to dry skin. Once out of the shower, moisturize immediately after drying off while the skin is still slightly damp.

Drinking plenty of water, eight to 12 cups a day, helps skin stay hydrated. Make sure that water consumption is part of your daily routine.

Taking a pharmaceutical-grade omega-3 supplement may improve cardiovascular health, mood, and skin. Omega-3 contains healthy fats that are good for your body’s health.

If you continue to have problems with dry skin and these suggestions are not helping, contact your dermatologist who can help you with other treatment plans and diagnose any possible problem.
