Wearing Sunscreen Daily
We all should know that wearing sunscreen daily is a great way to protect your skins from the sun’s damaging UVA and UVB rays, no matter what time of day or what time of year. Your skin gets exposed to harmful rays every time you are outdoors whether it is a sunny or cloudy day.
Proper application of sunscreen is also essential in order to receive its full protection benefit.
Choosing a proper sunscreen is important and your sunscreen should have an SPF (sun protection factor) of 30 or higher. Your sunscreen should also be a broad-spectrum formula to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Your sunscreen should also be waterproof.
Apply your sunscreen at least 15 minutes before going outdoors. It takes the sunscreen that long to absorb into your skin. Making sunscreen part of your morning routine is a good way to assure that it has absorbed before you go outside.
Thoroughly cover all exposed skin and be generous with the amount of sunscreen that you apply. Rub it thoroughly into your skin and make sure to get your neck, face, ears, feet, and legs. If you are going to be in direct sunlight without a hat, you might want to apply sunscreen to your scalp as well, especially if you are bald or balding.
Also protect your lips with a lip balm that has an SPF of at least 30.
If you remain outdoors you should reapply sunscreen every two hours. If you are swimming or sweating, then apply sunscreen more often than every two hours.
